Inspiring a Love for the Classics with All Ages
Lovers & Madmen is committed to developing educational programs designed to increase the community's interest in and knowledge of classical literature.
Our program in years past has been set up to expose students to Shakespeare and his plays through weekly workshops. Students were given the opportunity to practice and perform monologues and scenes from some of the Bard's most famous works. Workshops are led by our Education Director and a team of Northwestern teaching artists who bring their passion and excitement for working with children and classic texts.

This February and March, we will be holding a 5 week long program for students in 7th - 8th grade. The focus will be on introducing the students to two of Shakespeare's most famous works: Macbeth and Twelfth Night. Students will learn about what life was like in England 400 years ago, practice techniques professional Shakespearean actors use today, and have the opportunity to perform a scene from either of the two plays for an audience of family, faculty, and friends in one of Northwestern's black box theatres. In addition, student in the program are invited to meet the cast of Lovers and Madmen's mainstage production of Twelfth Night and will receive a free ticket to the show when it opens in April.
Workshops meet on Saturday mornings from 10am - 12pm on Northwestern's campus beginning February 6th - March 5th. There is no registration fee, or cost of any kind. Space is limited so sign up soon!
